Prayer itself, born in Catholic families, nurtured by programs of Christian formation, strengthened by the grace of the sacraments, is the first means by which we come to know the Lord’s will for our lives. To the extent that we teach young people to pray, and to pray well, we will be cooperating with God’s call. Programs, plans and projects have their place; but the discernment of a vocation is above all the fruit of an intimate dialogue between the Lord and his disciples. Young people, if they know how to pray, can be trusted to know what to do with God’s call.
Pope Benedict XV
The Family is the heart of all faith and church life. As we look to address Religious Education we look always to connect it to a family, By moving the focus of Religious Education from the classroom to the family table, we believe that the connection between what we do at our famiy table and what we do at the altar becomes clearer.
GIFT is an opportunity for families to realize their connection to the larger family of the parish and church. The whole parish then begins to see it's role in the handing of the faith to the next generation and also accepting the realzation that faith formation is a life long endeavor.
We gather on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, once a month, to share a light meal and to discuss matters that effect the living of the faith as individuals and families.
GIFT is open to all parishioners, with or without young ones, to join us for the entire year or for an individulal session. Contact the
Religious Education Office for more information.
